Rheumatory Arthritis

I am amazed at how many people in their 30s are affected by Rheumatory Arthritis. According to one site Rheumatory Arthritis:

QUOTE
Rheumatory Arthritis

RA is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system begins to attack multiple organ systems, the most visible of which are the joints. Typically the lining of the joint, which is called the synovium" becomes infiltrated with inflammatory cells. These cells consist of neutrophils, macrophages, plasma cells, dendritic cells, and lymphocytes. There is a complex interaction where these cells are prompted to produce inflammatory cytokines. These cytokines perpetuate and magnify inflammatory and destructive changes.

It also tends to affect women more than men, so our female folk should take note.

My wife currently is in the onset of this disease. Its touch because we have three young kids and she stays home to take care of them. Currently, both her hands swell up and hurt most of the time. The docs are trying to get it under control. She take vicadin for the pain and some strong anti-inflammatory drugs, two different kinds. As well, she is taking glucosamin Chondritin and Fish Oil tablets. GC helps restore cartilage and Fish Oil helps with pain.

Your wife has been battling for a long while now and I admire your courage, especially that you are a man in the situation and not running off as most boys do. I hope things improve for her.

On another note which may be related or not. I was watching a National Geographic documentary about making the density of bones harder to enable one to hit hard objects. Of course we do not want to do that here, but I wonder if regular exercise, especially that which increases bone density would help to prevent the occurrence of Rheumatory Arthritis or any kind of Arthritis for that matter?
