Recipe Ingredients Recipe details:

4 c Flour

Salt 2 ts Baking powder

1/2 c Shortening (or more)

3/4 pk Currants

Milk to make soft dough Sugar or powdered sugar Sift together first three ingredients. Cut in shortening as for biscuits. Add currants. Stir in enough milk to make a soft dough that can be rolled out. On floured board, roll into thin pancakes and cook on hot griddle until light brown. Butter and sprinkle with sugar. This is a recipe from Blodwyn Thorpe, the daughter of Welsh immigrants born in Malad City, Idaho in the 1890s. She was the last of 13 children born to a pioneer Mormon family. Blodwyn's daughter, Neva, married Giovani Dominico Cambarari, an Italian immigrant, and they are the parents of Katherine Francis Cambareri Day, my lovely bride. This recipe was never written down by Blodwyn, and is somewhat inexact, as are most of the recipes we have from the Thorpe side of the family. David E. Day March 7, 1992.
