Wow, I am glad you're safe, for a moment I started thinking something was very wrong. Sorry to hear about your tooth!

Introduction KNtoran

I have a grand total of 16 teeth left. smile.gif I am a real hick now. I think I need to have dental surgery to get dentures or even partials. I have an appointment with VA again on the 7th of Dec to get my breathing looked at as I am having a harder time breathing. I always knew it would be my breathing that would kill me. I hope to get some answers then. I also am going to get on the VA dental plan. This should help me some. With only eight teeth up and eight down I should just get them all out and get full dentures.

I am looking to get my disability looked at and possibly increased due to my breathing and get tested for sleep apnea

I've often found that breathing can become an issue if you are 30% or more over weight or take in high amounts of dairy products. None of those are you right? wink.gif

No I am not over weight at all. biggrin.gif I have serious lung issues and have had them since the gulf war when I breathed in all that smoke from the oil well fires on a daily basis. The VA knows all about this and it has been recorded. I just need to prove that the sleep apnea is part of this since I did not have it before and no one in my family has it. There is also no family history of sleep apnea on either side of my family. I find that interesting.

Well after 14 years of over nights and evening shifts I am finally moving up to a day shift. I will keep my same days off but will start to work the 7am to 3 pm shift. I doubt that this will change anything with me posting here as I will be able to get on the internet at work. The nice thing is I will be working a shift that has two people working at the same time. Thus making it where I do even less work. smile.gif

This all takes place January the 2nd. But since I am on vacation I will not work until Tuesday morning January 5th. I think this will be a good thing for me.

KNtoran Introduction

I got all my top teeth pulled and paid $125 (most expensive they had) for a top plate or whatever you call it, and $75 for three relinings. A couple of teeth came out every couple of weeks and after 6 trips, I just lost the will to even go, and never did get my relinings, so I just use my gums and bottom teeth to eat and chew things I'm able to, though I know you can wear down your gums doing that, and I looked better with uppers too, but they were starting to not fit right, they wouldn't stay adhered, came loose when I was chewing, weren't lined up with my real ones and had no actual front "bite" to like bite a carrot or apple, etc. And I hate driving (like I'm on meds for anxiety around people and traffic kind of "hate") and especially over 45 mins to where I had them done, and I don't have money to get others or anything, that's really made my depression and self-confidence a lot worse, and in a way I've kinda just given up on the teeth thing for now - it just seems like too much. So my point is, know for sure the whole layout and plan and charges and what's included and costs extra and make double and triple sure when they make yours to very closely check on whether things go together and mesh flat or flush and fit ok and all that - it's a really big hassle to have to mess with all that on top of learning to use them and wear them and eat and talk and everything with them also. Best of luck to you, whatever you decide.

Happy Thanksgiving or whichever holiday to everyone. -JP

Kntoran you are dead on about the lung capacity effecting your sleep. Here is my reasoning for this; were I work 4 people suffer from sleep apnea all of then had low oxygen levels at night. None were the over weight snorers waking themselves up. In fact two of them had pipes put in their throats to hold it open purring the night. It seems the passage way was collapsing not completely but enough to reduce their breathing.

The first thing the doctors did for all four was oxygen tanks at night. Now why would they do that if low oxygen levels were not the cause of the disorder? Snoring or completely block air passage is different as you wake due to suffocation.

Good to hear you are taking a much earned break and congrats on the day job. I hope that will help your sleep as well.

Well since it was the VA the really goofed up my mouth it is there that I am going to go and have them fix everything. I know it will take some time for all of this to be corrected.

I hope to find out a lot more about what the solution is going to be with my lungs. I await what VA will have to say.
