Offended?
I just wanted to mention that once everyone sticks within the guidelines of the community it is impossible to be offended, and if anyone is I believe it is because they are either overly sensitive or need to take a look at our Constructive Posting Policy instead.
Of late the topic of being offended has been discussed in various forms and fashions. To put a stop to these little disruptions I have taken the time to post a long detailed message that should dispell any misunderstandings and give affirmative action for both the offender and offended. See here:

I disagree, JB. There have been several times where I have posted something on a personal level, or something that I spend awhile formulating within my mind to have somebody express their opinion in a rude and thoughtless way. I'm sorry if this sounds out of bounds, but, to be truthful, that's one reason I haven't been posting here as much lately. I'm tired of trying to be positive, and get so much negativity back.

What one person may not find offensive, another person might. I didn't say anything about it because everytime I have felt myself get offended by somebody's reply, it's always been a mod.
Not all of it is offensive or rude, but sometimes it just gets old when I post something, and I see somebody's name in the reply box, and I know without a shadow of a doubt it's a negative response. If I wanted to constantly read people being negative about every issue, I would keep all my posts for an RPG where the median age is 15.
Plus, it's not hard to feel ganged up on. If I post an opinion one way, and then have four people respond in a "matter of fact" way, as it was put, it leads one to feel ganged up on, especially when they're all mods.
It's not that big of a deal to me. It's kept me from settling in like I would have hoped to, but I have my RPG for that. I was here for the RPG, and now that I've gotten up to that status, that's what I'm focusing on.
I do agree that it's important to get different perspectives, but I guess I'm just used to thinking about how I say things because I am so used to working with teenagers. I think about how, if I were on the other end of what I was saying, how I would perceive that. That's a courtesy I use because, especially being on the computer, you can't depict somebody's attitude. So I try to make sure my usage of words can't be misinterpreted to being rude.
Well I think you have inspired me to start a thread in the FAQ board about this, since it seems to be a popular scenario of late, but I still am awaiting (by Email) for the link so I can see an example of what you are talking about. In this way I can see if your perspective is correct or just opinionated.
Ambria, the thread is not about 'Did Mods Offend You', the point is you are saying that there were users that were both rude and offensive, I want to see this thread for myself so I can ascertain the problem. Like I said before. Send me an Email. If you do not send an Email about the link then I will take it that you are not really offended simply because the users that replied are not Mods.
Offtopic but, Users that are Mods belong to the Group called, 'Mods', you can see this in their posts right under their avatar. |
