Last week a boy that I know, he has learning disabilities and other health problems went missing. That happened on thursday of last week, he didnt get found till friday around noon ( thank god hes alright) but he had hyptheria. Surpringsly enough when asked what had happened, he said that he was trying to get away from bullies. Now I know you guys dont know who Jamie is so its hard to relate to it. But even at the coast a couple weeks ago that 13 year old got beaten to death. Do you think bullying is going to far? Do you think it can be helped and prevented in the future or is it a loss cause.

I think the moment any type of bullying happens, it has already gone too far. Nobody should be bullied or made fun of for anything. People have made irrational decisions that have been harmful to themselves as well as other people because of being bullied. Nobody should grow up hating themself because a materialistic society deems them unworthy.
The diversity in our world is a beautiful thing, and that diversity doesn't always necessarily have to center around a certain race. Everybody comes in different shapes, sizes, and personalities.
I think one reason kids get bullied is because of the other person's own issues with self esteem. Most times people try to build themself up by shoving somebody else to the ground. Everybody is always trying to be the top star, and if a person's priorities fall more on themself than the people around them, they tend to resort to degrading somebody else.
Until we live in a society that values everybody for their differences rather than some phony perfection, people will be bullied. People's lives will be made miserable because they're different. I think the world would not be nearly as beautiful if everybody were the same. Sadly, there won't be a stop to it until the Lord returns.
I believe is more then that.. as LDS_forever said there are places where people are the same but this bullying doesn' t not happened. It was also the case in my school. There were people that make a lot of fun of other kids but never went till physical abuse. There was also some fighting involved there but it usually went on between alfa males, hitting a weaker one was not consider a gesture of manhood. So there it was...some kids were left outside some circes but they were very seldom abuse and not because the other were self aware about the damage they could have done but because it never become cool to hit weaker people.
I do not know if I made myself understood but may be is another way more natural and simple then expect society to values everybody for their differences

I was bullied in school as a child myself. I hate the fact that the schools allow it more and more while portraying that they are against it. There was a specific incident that I can remember in which a teacher saw me being hit, I had my hands up to defend, not fight, and we both got sent to the principles office and suspended. My parents where furious and I was destroyed inside for being punished for defending myself while being attacked.
The problem is that parents and teachers are either too dense to see, scared, or don't care enough to crack down on the bullies. Another thing that bothers me, is when I finally started speaking out against it, the teachers association I spoke before basically got tired of hearing my plight and that made them come down on me! Since when is it wrong for the person to speak up about what is being done to them. I never asked for the treatment I got, and I still resent the teachers who ignored me to this day.
When I was in 4th grade, I was the smallest kid in my class. My birthday is in September, so I was actually almost a half a year younger than most of the kids. My mother and father had always told me that if some kid picks on you..."you just knock their block off". Being a good kid, I listened. Well one day, some 6th graders started picking on my friend and I. They started hitting him first and then I yelled for him to stop. The 3 of them asked me "what was I going to do about it" and started coming towards me. We had been playing hockey, so I held my stick up. They laughed and kept coming. I closed my eyes and swung as hard as I could. I still remember that feeling to this day...just like in the fall when you are playing baseball and dont grab the bat hard enough and the bat stings in your hand after you hit the ball. SAME FEELING HERE. I opened my eyes and all I saw was blood (broke his nose). I went running to the teacher and kept appologizing the whole way...I thought I had nearly killed him (what did I know...I was only in 4th grade). Those guys got in trouble for beating on my friend and I got detention for hitting a bully with a hockey stick. I have always tried to figure out if I deserved the detention...but I can say that I did not get picked on anymore!
