-Sacrifice the lives and well being of various animals in the course of various experiments required for the development of important medical treatments
-Sacrifice the lives and well being of various humans in the course of various experiments required for the development of important medical treatments
-Sacrifice the lives and well being of various humans to conditions such as cancer because the treatments that might have helped them can no longer be developed

I'm sorry, but while I respect animals greatly, if something is absolutely going to die and I were to pick what, whether the death is due to disease or someone trying to figure out how to treat the same, I would rather it be a mouse that was literally only born for the purpose of experiments than, oh say, my 6 year old nephew.

While there is some animal testing that does not serve sufficient purpose to justify itself (The cosmetic industry in particular earns my ire in this regard), do not make the mistake of thinking that the rest is just some cruel industry brought on by people who don't care.
