I was appalled to read the news that Trinis are lining up and have acquired a taste for dolphin meat. There seem to be a shortage of fish in the gulf so fisherman catch dolphins now to satisfy the bellies of the "always hungry" Trinis.
Do Trinis realize that dolphins are NOT fish? They are MAMMALS for heaven's sake! Just like us.
It is scary to know what could happen in this island if suddenly there is no "flesh" to be eaten. We will have to live lock down inside our own homes or be eaten!
I think in Japan they eat dolphins. So in that sense, I don't see it as strange as such. Trinbago food I think is one of the good points about the country. Whether stewed chicken, callaloo, pelau, roti, or doubles, I'll have more please..
I'll admit I've eaten dolphin once and it tasted a bit like chicken, maybe it was just the way it was cooked, but I don't see what that has to do with Trinis eating anything that moves.
I don't think Trinis just eat anything that moves. I believe that it's just their tradition of having a variety of foods from different cultures that they picked up from history, and they all taste really good. I wouldn't mind trying out dolphin meat since I never tried it before.
