The latest weapon in the arsenal of the U.S. Air Force is the Small Diameter Bomb, or SDB. As its names suggests, it is a very small bomb, carrying less than 40 pounds of explosives.

Bomb Diameter Small
I think that this is something that is a long time coming. Haveing a smaller radius of damage you can take out a houseor apartment without causing much damage to the surounding stuctures. This will help keep innocent people out of the blasts range thus being a more war friendly type of bomb.
