Blessing A Leper

Blessing To A Leper

You are invited to home teach a person you do not know. Upon arrival with your companion you discover the person is a leper. Upon seeing you they say they are glad you are there because they want a blessing. Will you enter and give the person a blessing or refuse?

Leper Blessing

Yes, I would because I know the person needs it. It's something I learned from my dear grandmother. She told me of this story of a woman who had this very contagious disease. She had no relatives or friends to look after her when she fell ill. My grandmother at that time was already married with children. She decided to go to this woman's home and take care of her. My grandfather told her she was crazy by doing this and that she will bring the woman's disease at home but she went anyways (she was very stubborn) saying that the Lord will protect her.

While neighbors did not want to get involved, while there was no family around, my grandmother took this poor woman bathed her, cooked for her, fed her, clean her house every single day for several weeks.

The woman was recovered and at the amazement of her doctor, she no longer had that illness neither my grandmother caught it.

She returned home telling my grandfather "I told you so" laugh.gif What an spiritual and caring woman. She may not have had the Priesthood to give a blessing of health to this woman but she indeed blessed her with everything she had.

So yes, after hearing this experience I know I would do it.

I would defiantly give a blessing for them if I held the Melchizedek priesthood! I know that God would keep me safe when doing his will and work. I know that we can also perform miracles if we really had that faith and so did the participants including the witnesses. Well that's my thought on blessing a leper.

Love the example LDS! What a wonderful woman. I agree with all my heart as well. Faith is what make blessings come to pass, if it is Heavenly Fathers will. I truly believe if the person was not to be healed he would protect his servant who is giving the blessing.

I love the "Faith in Christ" DVD where the disciples are frightened and walk quickly away from the leper as he rings his bell. They stop and look at Christ in a questioning way as he goes forth to heal the leper--UNAFRAID and full of faith! I love that lesson!

Yes, of course I would. But then I know that with modern medicine leprocy is not a death sentence. We no longer have the leper colonies of old. This same question could be asked of someone with Aids. Many people are afraid of helping them. I think as long as we are about the Lord's business he will take care of us.
