We may take it for granted that we will always be around to protect our little ones but its not true. They can be at school, outside playing, at a function or neighbor's party - anything can happen anywhere and its not being paranoid to teach them what they can do in different circumstances.

Children have the advantage of being able to make themselves really small so they can slip past persons or hide in a crowded area really well. They should be taught that this is an advantage and not to look at it as a disadvantage when everything is far bigger around them.
