I find this study a little disturbing, I can understand the reason they want to have a child similar to them but to actually and purposely "create" a child with a disability just for selfish reasons? I mean, in my opinion nobody can argue that is only for the parent's sake, therefore is selfishness. As a parent myself, I wish each one of my kids can be as healthy as they can possible be! Don't take me wrong, I am sure couples with disabilities having "normal" kids probably struggle in their relationships, but that's a normal step and process in parenthood regardless whether the child or parents have disabilities.
Can you imagine that kid growing up and probably struggling through his/her disability to find out that his/her own parents played God so he/she can born this way and look like the parents? Sorry, I find it very disturbing.
Everyone wants to be a viking like me. I hope that if this technology ever comes to be made affordable that laws are passed to prevent it from being mainstream. I like the fact that we are all the same yet different. We need to keep the gene pool as diverse as possible. I would not like to see a baby vending machine where you pick your own child out by pressing a few buttons.
