Is Trinidad a homophobic society? If so, then it is because of religious values?

I think more people are accepting of gays than they were before. I think the media has helped with that.

How has the media helped? I don't see any Trinidad media that portrays gays as such.

There are many gay men in Trinidad? I do not see this at school and street.

There probably a quite a few. But I think they may be in the closet since they fear being scorned by society. Besides, one cannot really tell who is gay or not. A liming partner might be gay. A workmate or next door neightbour could easily be but they choose not to tell anybody. And I think it would take a brave person to come out in a school setting, knowing how kids are.

I wasn't talking about local media but foreign. Hollywood is made up of many gays and Trinis love everything Hollywood sends down for us.

I'm not gay but it's just a fact that there are few openly gay people in Trinidad. That's not to say there aren't a lot in the closet or who otherwise don't tell others they are.

I also heard that homosexuality is illegal in Trinidad anyhow. At least that's what Wikipedia says. Source 1
