$325,000,000 Prime Minister Jet
Do you agree that tax payers should pay $325,000,000 for the new Prime Minister's Jet?
I do not know the price of jets as to whether this is a good deal or not, but isn't it normal for most heads of state to have their own transportation?
Today Prime Minister Manning said that he is not buying a jet. It seems like the issue is technical... Caribbean Airlines will probably acquire the jet and the government will merely rent its use. The jet will be available to other people that want to rent it.
I may be in the minority here but I really do not see what the big deal is. The man has to get around.
You can increase the quality of life of Trinis by at least 20% by putting that same money in infrastructure for Public Health (POS General Hospital and SFGH), have more drugs in the formulary and have more qualified medical practitioners so our
goverment officials can stay home instead of going to Cuba, USA or Canada for treatment!
When you look at it and compare population, T&T has the population of a large US city so Manning is like a mayor of a large US city! He go like dat! (excuse my english)

Let's add to that that it will cost $12 million TT per month for maintenance. A high rank official of Caribbean Airlines said basically that is "bologna" the excuse the government is making stating that there is a "niche market" in the Caribbean for the use of the jet. (by renting it to other Prime Ministers).
Manning better buy this one fast before flour prices increase the price of the plane .
Well the deal fell through, and the main reason was because a local middle man would have obtained a lot of money for the deal. I do not feel this will end there, the government is sure to look for someone else to buy a jet from regardless to what the general public thinks about it.
