House passes legislation that would protect right to abortion across country. The bill would codify into law protections provided under the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion across the country in 1973. The bill would do this by establishing a statutory right to perform or receive the procedure, free from restrictions that single out abortion care. Source 6n.

The question I have to ask, is will hospitals be willing to follow federal law over state laws? Can we trust doctors and nurses will truly put the life of the mother first or refuse and allow the mother to die?
I know, or at least I very much hope, that the majority of the doctors and nurses, of health professionals, will not see the life of a one who is pregnant and be willing to yet them die simply because they refuse to do a necessary abortion over the mother's own lifeā¦ Yet I suspect many could, either willingly or unwillingly. All of this is insane and horrifying, that the president even has to step in but I am at least thankful he is willing to do this.
This is why the decision to abort should be left to the mother and doctor, the complexities of a situation, especially when there is a risk to the mother's life, and even when the mother very much wants to keep her child but can't. This is why Roe vs Wade was so important, and why it being overturned by the Supreme Court is so much a horrible travesty.
States and politicians should not be allowed to decide for a woman, for a mother, and those who can become pregnant, when an abortion is okay. As one size does not fit all and when you try to make blanket statements or hard rules, it deprives women of the choice of deciding what is best for her and her child.
More than that, the language surrounding abortion needs to change. Since even stillbirths, a child dying within the womb, has been counted as an abortion. Which means that, in some states, the mother and doctor could be could tried for a felony.
