Recipe Ingredients Recipe detials:

4 cooking apples -- medium-tart

1/2 C brown sugar

1 Tb lemon juice

1 C light sour cream

2 eggs -- lightly beaten

1/2 T vanilla

1 Pinch salt

pie shell (9-inch) -- topping 1/4 C butter or margarine -- softene

1/4 C sugar

1/4 C almonds -- sliced

Preheat oven to 350F. Peel and core the apples; thinly slice. In a large bowl, combine the apple slices, sugar, lemon juice, sour cream, eggs, vanilla, and salt. Mix well and set aside. Bake empty pie shell for 5 minutes, then fill with apple mixture and bake for 35 minutes. Meanwhile, mix margarine or butter with sugar and almonds until smooth. Set aside. Remove pie from oven. Spread the topping on pie and put back in oven for 20 minutes. Remove pie from oven and let cool on rack before serving. Makes 8 servings. By "Lloyd A. Carver" on Jan 5, 1996
