QUOTE
Professor Al-Arian's indictment in 2003 was hailed by then-Attorney General John Ashcroft as one of the first triumphs of the PATRIOT Act.

I cannot believe this case. This is the exact criminal nature of the Patriot Act. It is designed to lock up people, innocent or guilty, for whatever reason is convenient to the US Government. What a disgrace.

Bush has used September 11 - the fear generated by this one attack - for political gain and to erode the basic civil rights of Americans for far too long.

This man was acquitted of all the charges laid against him but he is still being locked up because the Government doesn't recognise "innocence" when it is dished out by the judicial system. This guy is even willing to be deported for separate tax and immigration violations but is being held for unknown reasons.

As for his co-defendant, what case does he have to answer to?

This smacks of Guantanamo Bay. I wonder how much of this case is being influenced by the powerful Israel lobby.

I will agree, that if he hasn't been convicted of a crime, and no future trial is scheduled, that he should be released. Then, he should be deported to an island, with no way to get off of it, and let the victims of Palestinian terror know where he is. Let nature then take its course.

This guy has funneled large amounts of money to various terrorist organizations, has taught anti-Semitic and anti-American courses in publicly funded universities, has publicly called for the complete destruction of Israel.

The very best he should be given is a one-way ticket to Palestine. If his family want to follow him that is their right. But if he ever steps foot in the US, or on any US territory, he should be locked up in solitary for a minimum of 100 years. He feeds the monster, and participates in the monster's crimes. Let him reap the monster's reward.

If I remember right, he celebrated the deaths on 9/11. If the government can't convict him, they should kick him out.

I'm a bit confused. He was charged with 53 or so offences and acquitted of all these offences in a court of law. If you are acquitted of offences aren't you then not guilty of them? Or is there is a different law when the offences are about Israel?

This guy appears to be targeted because he dares to speak out against Israel, which seems to be a crime punishable by indefinite detention in the US. If this guy had spoken out about Iranian politics and had allegedly "funded" the CIA, which is considered a terrorist organisation in many parts of the world, he would probably be championed in the US as some sort of hero. His phone calls to family members were presented as evidence that he was funding terrorists.

I am sorry, but what happened to free speech? If his courses were inciting hatred, violence, terrorism, or whatever, why was he allowed to practice as a university professor? These aren't easy roles to obtain.

Has he called for the destruction of Israel or for the removal of Israeli occupation forces in Palestine? Do you have a link to the speech where he made this remark?

If you have any proof that he feeds the "monster" and participates in the monster's crimes maybe you should pass it on to the US Government's legal team. They are in desperate need of such evidence. Or you could post it on here so we can see this evidence.
