Lds And Divorced

Anyone find that members look down on members who are divorced as if they are second rate to those who are currently sealed?

Name: Someguy

Comments: I am almost through a one year divorce. It depends on the ward. I lived on the East coast for a few years and out there no one thought much of it. I now live in Utah and there is definitely a difference. People do treat me differently. However there are members and wards where it is much less noticeable. So my feeling is it depends on the area and individual members. Personally I don't feel like I am failing. God still has a plan for me and she is out there somewhere.

I have a sister who is divorced and a brother just about to be. There definitely seems to be a change in the way that they are viewed. It doesn't matter that they are making the decision to leave an abusive spouse, somehow, they are wrong! I just don't get it.

Rather off topic, but...
My sister was actually told by 2 different bishops that she needed to stay married to a man who was abusing her and her children!

Members have to stop judging people with the holier than thou attitude and think to themselves that one day it could be them that they're pointing fingers at.

I agree with this statement, I always think of the iron rod how the people are dressed in rich clothing and mocking those who are following it to the tree of life. if we are the people who are pointing the finger at them ,we are the ones mocking them.
