Calling A Black Man "Boy"

Is the term "boy" offensive to black people when referring to a Black man?

quotboyquot Man Black Calling

It is offensive to any man to be called BOY. Color is irrelevant. However, if the comment is spewed with a southern drawl on a white man and all the contempt you can imagine, I am sure it will get the appropriate ire from a black man.

I am very positive it would be taken as an insult by a black person. In fact I think it is an insult to call any grown up male "Boy". The whole idea behind that wording is to imply the other is beneath you in stature and intelligence.

A Friend

quotboyquot Man Black Calling

Yes it is a deep insult that I learned about when I was in college. I thank a nice friend who was black who taught me that this term was not something nice to him and his race. I was glad that he did not take offense and understood that my country hick rear end did not mean what I said. I got educated on that real well.
