A woman had to take out her Breast Nipple Ring with a pliers in order to board a plane. Talk about strict! I just heard this on CNN headline news. The TSA later apologized.

I think it was a over zealous TSA official that made this type of boneheaded decision. I supposed he wanted to watch her take it out too. TSA just makes me want to walk away shaking my head.

Try as they might the TSA as a whole group does not have a standard process from one airport to another. One airport will do it this way and another the total opposite. They all have the same rules and regulations passed down from TSA headquarters from Washington but each Security director of given airports does things their own way. This I believe is what caused the whole nipple ring fiasco

I do not condone any rash or aggressive treatment of passengers, but at the same time you have to consider that these people are screen tens of thousands of people a day. They don't have time to wonder why your chest is causing the metal detectors to go off. People should know better and stop wearing those silly items when travelling.

That is just the thing. Everyone has the right to add jewelry to their bodies. They should not be singled out and harassed just because they want to decorate their body. It is no different then a teen with a belly ring or a middle aged lady with three earings. Everyone is different and some cultures view things differently. If your painted or use piercings in your society then the TSA should train their people as a whole and have a common nation wide policy on how to deal with this type of thing.

Sure, but the TSA also has the right to check you for metal objects and sharp ones too. Personally, if you know you're going to be checked then take off your accessories at home so you have nothing to worry about at the airport.

Yes I agree but if they are looking for just metal objects or sharp objects why do they give such a hard time to kids because they had a toy plastic army man in their backpack. I believe that there are too many overzealous TSA agents and they need to be better trained. If that happens then a lot of this can be curtailed
