When a tooth becomes discolored (gray or black color) what does that mean?

Many reasons but if is only one and the rest looks fine, it means your tooth is decaying or "dying" (dead nerve). A possible root canal may be recommended by your dentist.

It is common for your teeth to discolor as you get older. With a whitener that is found in many of the toothpastes nowadays you can go longer with your teeth looking white. I do not have to worry about that as I am missing most of my teeth. smile.gif
