Be Grateful For What You Have

I pray everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and remember what to be thankful for. This Thanksgiving was bittersweet for me for I lost my mother-in-law this year. It was painful watching my father-in-law, my husband and his siblings missing her. They did not say much but I could see it in their faces.
I have not been blogging for a while just to busy to think lately. Soon as I figure out how to work my digital camera and recover from my dreaded surgery I will upload more recipes and pictures.

I had a friend visit me today and wanted to know if there was anything she can do for me. I graciously thanked her and said I was all set for my surgery and the freezer was full of frozen food.

As she sat there telling me how her husband was loosing more work. I felt so bad here she was with a meal for my family and she could not even afford it.

We need to be selfless and be grateful for what we have. I find myself lately trying to be positive about my surroundings and smiling to people even strangers when I pass them and remembering what this season is all about.
I had a lady tell me at the grocery store she had not done her shopping yet, and was not looking forward to shopping for her friend and family. She had to buy something expensive because her friend spends hundreds of dollars on her. I told her to buy what she can afford, or just tell her you cannot afford presents this year.

Its not a about the gifts you receive or how much money you spend on your family and friends. Its about celebrating love for each other and being grateful for what we have.
If they are good friends they will understand and family you just tell it like it is "I cannot afford to buy gifts this year" If they don't understand who cares. They soon will and if they don't OH Well!
To me Christmas is about family and friends getting together. I love making homemade gifts for my friends and family.
This year I will not be doing my usual baking which I love, I will be a little sad, for this truly gets me in the christmas spirit.
