Harry Reed, Nevada Senator is claiming that the U.S. tax System is Voluntary.
Is anything voluntary if it is backed up with the force of Law?

This is a interesting thing. If you look into the tax law and can understand it I believe it states the american citizen is not taxed. The income tax was for foreign nationals, citizens working outside the US or having their pay come from a outside source. At least that is the way I understood it to read. Now comes the tricky part. IF you ask a IRS agent what this means you will placed in the IRS files as a trouble maker and be audited every year. This is just for asking for a clarification. Wonder what they will do if you actually prove to them that We should not be paying taxes due to the language of their own tax code?

The Sixteenth Amendment (Amendment XVI) of the United States Constitution was ratified on February 3, 1913. This Amendment allows the Congress to levy an income tax without regard to the States or the Census. |

The Founding Fathers had rejected income taxes (or any other direct taxes) unless they were apportioned to each state according to population. Nevertheless, an income tax was levied during the Civil War and upheld by the Supreme Court on somewhat tenuous reasoning. |

The next time I go to buy something and they want to add tax I will say something like: "Sorry, but according to Harry Reed I do not have to pay that."

When you do you'll be talking to some poor klutz that has no more idea what to do about taxes than you, or I. It is a proven fact that when you lower taxes more people go to work to pay taxes, so there is actually more money being sent to Washington. John F. Kennedy did it. Ronald Reagan did it. George W. Bush did it, so it's a mystery to me why todays democrats want to raise our taxes out of sight. If they gain office they will finish killing off a perfectly good economy that the "news" media has ruined to hopefully get democrats back in the white house.
A related story.
A professional artist had just been commissioned to do a portrait, so he treated himself to dinner, then to celebrate a little more, he ordered a second glass of wine. As the waiter left to get the wine the artist glanced at a news paper. The headlines screamed, "RECESSION NEAR." He called the waiter back and said, "There's a recession coming. Cancel that glass of wine." The waiter told the restuarant owner about the wine and the recession, so he called his contractor and cancelled a planned addition to his restaurant. The contractor called the portrait painter and cancelled the portrait of his wife because there is a recession coming.
Our news media has been running "recession near" stories for a year, because historically the party in the white house loses if the economy is bad at election time. Aren't we proud of our "news" media?

Wesley Snipes recently tried not to voluntarily pay his taxes and it cost him a few million involutary dollars. James Brown, apparently voluntarily, went to prison for failing to make an offering to the government. Taxes are the way that Al Capone ended up in jail...he forgot to make his offering to the government. People are audited each year for forgetting to pay the government...and if they continue to forget to pay...they are asked to pay more.
Bottom line...
Harry Reed is a idiot and a voluntary one at that!
