This is a recipe that my dad has passed down to us boys when we were camping. HE says it is one of the original recipes they used on the range. Not sure of the truth to that but here it is.
1 can of drained pork and beans
1 can of drained red kidney beans
1 can of drained chili beans
1/2 lb. bacon
1/2 lb. hamburger
4 (high quality) hot dogs (cut into small pieces)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup mustard
1/2 small onion
You should brown the bacon, then brown the hamburger, and then fry the onion. Pour off any grease and put everything in a pot and cook over an open campfire. If you are not camping, bake in an oven at 350 degrees for 1 & 1/2 hours.
This sounds good maybe over some roasted potatoes with a tusk salad.
Or even mashed potatoes and macaroni pie. One thing though, all those different peas is bound to cause extra flatulence.
