Australia Teacher Accused of Impregnating Student
Parkwood, Australia (LifeNews.com) -- An Australian teacher accused of getting a teenage student pregnant and then paying for her abortion has been found guilty of having sex with a minor. Stephen Peter Morrow, 55, could face 10 years in prison after a jury found him guilty on nine counts of sex with an underage girl. Morrow was found not guilty on two other counts prosecutors charged him with in the case. The teenage girl Morrow apparently had sex with is 25-years-old now and she told the court during the trial that Morrow had been her physics teacher while she was a Year 12 student at Melbourne Girls' College. The young woman described a relationship that began as a friendship with after-school tutoring that eventually turned into a sexual relationship. She said Morrow took her to an abortion center in August 1999 after she became pregnant and paid for the abortion she had there. Following the guilty verdict, Judge Tom Wodak placed Morrow in police custody and set up a hearing next Wednesday for the sentencing portion of the trial.
