The real estate agent will advise you if your paint is just too hideous or out of style to sell. Usually neutral colors are used in homes.

Choosing A Selling Color History & Civil Business Politics

White is the safest color to go with, I know because during the summer last year I help to paint a house for a guy that was selling. He said that if you paint it white then it is easy for the new owners to paint over any color over it. If you paint with another color then sometimes they have to paint white first and then the other color. He made a good point and is house sold too but I dont know if that was because it was white biggrin.gif.

Color Selling Choosing

I think a neutral color is the idea way to go. I would buy a house in purple only if it was not a neutral color. I believe a white house sells quicker because most believe they can repaint it to their choice quickly.

That is a good point. When I bought my house they just had primer on the walls not even real pain. I appreciated that as at the last coating they were purple and hot pink. Did I mention the previous owners did drugs and no maintenance?

I think a off white(beige) would be a wiser choice as it is easier to cover up pending on the color the next person choses.

Choosing A Selling Color

Whichever color you choose make sure it is a neutral color. The important thing when preparing your house to sell is to make it as generic as possible. Potential buyers should be able to imagine themselves in your home. If you love Robin egg blue and paint your house that color, you may love the house, but potential buyers may not be so passionate about Robin egg blue. By keeping things neutral (and this goes for home decor & family pictures too) it allows the potential buyers to visualize what the home will look like with their possessions and personal touches.

There can't be anything more neutral than a white color unless your putting on a primer and most of those come as off white anyway.
