Wearing Police Armor

As a law enforcement officer do you feel that by wearing Police Armor you may indirectly be endangering yourself since the criminal element will try to aim for your head instead?

No We have learned that aiming for a certain body part makes the shot almost impossible unless you are in a sniper position where you can relax and take your time with your shot. In a close range shooting your just trying to hit the perp and they are just trying to hit you. The body armour is there to give you the upper hand and be able to walk away from most shootings. Granted while a lucky shot will hit you elsewhere you do not think about that. You know your there to protect the community from the perps. IF they are willing to shoot at you what will they do to the average citizen.

I agree that the body armor is an advantage for the police. If it a sniper then it might not matter, but for everyday issues a head shot would be just bad luck.

The only bad thing about the armour is that it is very hot in the summer months. I know I had two covers for mine and I was washing one each day to try to keep the armour stink free. I used a lot of airconditioning in the spring summer and fall moths to keep me cool. I guess that is a price one pays for the protection of idiots who want to shoot at you.
