Why do some people have such an obsession with serial killers?

Killers Serial Obsession
Many want to know what makes them do the things they do. Others want to learn from them so that it does not happen again. The police want to know how they operate so they can get a better picture of the person and their habits so they can have a easier time catching them next time. OR a easier time catching the next one. The study of a serial killer can help many understand the warning signs of them as children so maybe we can prevent the next serial killer from killing innocents.
Personally I like to study the habits of serial killers and try to get into their minds. What makes them tick. I find it all fascinating.
