Well back to the dodge forums for me. My ABS and brake light decided to stick on today. I should have tried to check some codes before coming in.
I am betting it is a loose wire or sensor connection. It is to be a nice weekend so I will try looking at it then.
Has any one experienced this? If so what did you find and how. I am gong to look into how to quick test sensors so as to eliminate thing fast. I would short out some to see if that caused the light to go out but I think they are more then just make or break connections. I think they are resistive in nature or voltaic in that they are hall effect based sensors for the abs. Oh what fun.
2000 Dakota quad cab v6.
I will post what I find.
Sensor should not be that expensive and I would think easy to change. I hate front end work done and suspect that as the source of the issue but still have to get out and prove I am right. It could also be my pedal switch, my wife sent a coffee down there last fall.
Seems two common source of this is the speed sensor out put on the tranny. I had suspension work done back there and run over sized tires. Looks like I need to check for some codes to. But I am thinking good old fashion corrosions might be my enemy or a loose connection.
I will check for a code then the pedal followed by the front senors then the tranny. Oh and my reverse light went so maybe I fix it first then if it is the back up switch I can check the speed sensor connection at same time.
Only thing worse then new cars is the old ones with mechanical brakes! Neither on seems to be easy on trouble shooting. I do miss my Malibu....so simple.
