Should airlines let passengers make calls via Wi-Fi?
It's a controversial issue that's triggering fierce debate among travelers, airlines and regulators. Federal regulations prohibit in-flight cellphone use - but not Internet-based phone calls - lest they interfere with flight operations and create congestion in ground cell towers. A bill in Congress seeks a similar ban on all in-flight voice communications by passengers. Ref. Source 1
I do not agree with this for security reasons. Conversing negative news to someone aboard a moving jet can cause extreme anxiety. What is the difference in any case if you are on a plane you can't do anything about it even if it is an emergency, no sense talking to anyone until you've landed.
Yeah punish passenger flight service since we have so many parcel packages using the internet while they fly around to different points of the globe. I think that the wi-fi usage in the world will drop by half if we take that away from the parcels and other cargo being shipped.
