I am amazed by the elaborate schemes the Car Dealerships in the US will go through in order for you to just view and consider a vehicle. Here are some examples I have seen, maybe you know of others:
- Come down and we will give you a hot dog, drink and the kids get a balloon
- Buy a used car and get a chance to go to the local theme park for free
- If you buy a car right now I will personally hand you $1000
Yea, there is one dealership chain that will offer the latest and hottest DVD on the market just to get you to come down and test drive a specific vehicle. --> They don't tell you til after you test drive the vehicle that you have to be approved for a loan on the vehicle before they give you the DVD. My friend found that out the hard way.
My dad just recently bought a car from a Toyota dealer. They gave out free Hot Dogs, which were great. But it wasn't like they were like, "You must buy a car, then we will give you a free hot dog." It was nice, but not too commercial. Unless they laced the hot dogs with some sort of mind-persuading chemical.
I think it's interesting that they will offer gifts just to "test drive" a vehicle. Of course, once you are on the lot, they will do their best to sell you a car, and getting you there is half the battle. Most people don't go to a car dealership unless they are in the market for a car, but some can be lured by the free lunch and then buy because they are getting a good deal.
