Become a virgin... AGAIN?
This happened to me a good couple years ago, I was on a bus full of teens going to this leadership camp on the coast and these girls behind me were have a discussion on how they believe that they can have sex whenever they want and not worry about it cause all they have to do is Bathe in "Holy" water of God and they become virgins again. I thought the whole thing was a crock to me, but I kept that to myself and decided to see what you guys thought!
I find it hard to believe that such ignorance abounds in this world. Virginity is a matter of a physical state in this case, and I do not see a future for this thread.
I chose to re-open this topic because it was dealt with quite extensively at the church I grew up in. The idea of a spiritual rebirth into secondary virginity was very common and was taught. I idea behind it was that you ask forgiveness and your sins become white as snow, and behold you are a new creation. Secondary virginity, or being a "born-again" or "renewed" virgin, is when an individual who has had premarital sex chooses to "start again" and wait until marriage. This, to me, enabled girls to have sex and then ask forgiveness. I personally knew a girl who became a born-again virgin three times in tearful alter sessions with the youth minister and his wife. I was very dramatic and she looked sincere, that is, until she was caught behind the stage after service again! While to the out sider, this looks foolish and ignorant, its definitely taught in fundamentalist/evangelical churchs, and embraced among its teen population. I can find no official doctrine on it or any scriptural basis for it. For that reason, I call this movement and under ground yet prominent push. It seems to me to be a way for a church to get past the fact that christian teens are sexually active and they don't know how to prevent it. In my church, this was taught more than abstinence.
Kon, that's very interesting. I did not know some Churches teach this secondary virginity. In my opinion, once you lose your virginity, you lose it...you cannot get it back. When you a join a Church or you become what they call a "born-again" Christian, the matter itself does not change. You still not a virgin, yet you have the knowledge now. All the previous sins committed are forgiven through repentance and baptism. Whatever you do after that, it's the issue. Nevertheless, you still not a virgin.

Comments: I have heard of this situation many times and I personally wish I could "rebirth" but like most say once you lose it you cant get it back but what I wanna know is is there a limit to forgiveness for every man you sleep with?
