Trinidad Poisoned Avocados

According to TV6 news a farmer in the Tunapuna area was so disgruntled with thieves stealing his avocados that he injected them with poison to 'teach them a lesson'. Hi-Lo and other sellers of Avocado have taken the fruit off the shelves in case of the risk. I don't understand how injecting your fruits with poison would teach thieves a lesson since they would likely sell it to innocent buyers.

I stopped buying avocados. I'm glad Hi-Low removed them from the store. It wasn't just a few but a couple of thousand of avocados the man injected with poison. Madness.
