How Many People Use A Phone?

Is it true that 50+% of all the people world-wide have never called or received a call by telephone?

I don't know the facts and figures but I wouldn't doubt it because the poorer countries also have the biggest populations like India, most countries in Africa and I guess isolated parts of China / Russia.

How Many People Use A Phone? Reviews Consumer & Travel Family Culture

I know that while I was stationed in Korea back in 1883-85 I saw a lot of villages that only had a pay phone for the population. THe small police station had a phone but that was about it. I not sure how many others may have had one but from what I saw not many telephone wires ran to any houses.
