World Rages About Killing of Giraffe at Zoo, Ignores Babies Killed in Abortion
I have been hearing from correspondents who are amazed that so many people are more emotionally outraged at the humane killing of a young giraffe at a Danish zoo than they seem to be about many terrible wrongs done to human beings. I am not at all surprised. It is a sign of the times. Ref. Source 7

It's really based on what the media focuses on. There is so many cases of animal cruelty as we speak and there is no rage going on except for vegan/vegetarian activists. The same thing applies with human cruelty as well, but as long as the media doesn't really focus on those..people just don't care. They will get outraged with this one news source as soon as they read it, give them some time and it won't be long til they either forget or move on.
