Gang feud blamed for 2013 freeway killing
Three men have been arrested in the 2013 shooting of a 22-year-old man who was fatally shot while a passenger in a car driving on Interstate 8. Investigators say the young man fell victim to a gang feud he wasn't involved in. Ref. Source 1f.

Auditor calls for oversight of state gang database
State officials are asking lawmakers to give the state Department of Justice control of the gang intelligence sharing database, which auditors found was riddled with problems. The governing board of the database included SDPD and 14 other agencies. Ref. Source 3a.

People have to remember that gangs are nothing but local thugs and terrorists. They want you to pay them for protection but they offer you no real protection. They are as likely to victimize you as anyone else. IF the people in the neighbor hoods would take action then the gangs would be no more.
I find it interesting that the people in a neighborhood know who the gang members are and where they live. The fact that many people just do not want to get involved shows that many are just letting the gang members get by with doing these acts.

A North Park gang member was sentenced to 11 years in prison for his leadership role in a racketeering enterprise supervising, managing and maintaining women for prostitution, prosecutors said. He also must forfeit cars, computers and paraphernalia. Ref. Source 5l.

Female driver killed by stray gunfire in Escondido
A 55-year-old woman driving home from church was killed when she was struck by apparent crossfire from a gang shooting in Escondido Tuesday night. The city's police chief called the death of Catherine Kennedy a "Senseless tragedy." Ref. Source 7k.
