Looming in a field, about 100 yards east of the road, were what looked like three beastly creatures from another time. Since that day, people have been stopping by at all hours to gawk at and touch three massive steel sculptures that appeared without warning on the desert landscape, thanks to the generosity and whimsy of multimillionaire Dennis Avery.
