He rarely carries pennies because "they take up a lot of room for how much value they have." Instead, like so many other Americans, he dumps his pennies into a bucket back home in Sarasota, Fla.

I think that they will soon have pennies out of circulation. I know where I live, people can't be bothered with them and just throw them on the floor.
I put loose pennies in a big plastic money bottle .

My Grandma always taught me to "look after the pennies, the pounds will look after themselves".

I didn't really understand that concept until years later, but it is true, those tiny loose pennies can soon mount up into a decent amount. Last year out of our money bottle we got around $150 to treat ourselves with.

They are a nuisance. The local banks stop circulating them but some place still give them back as change and I always refuse it.

With the penny costing more to make than it is worth I can see that it may soon be out of circulation but I still think that will be a few years down the road like around 2020 if we still have this currency that is.

Pennies already are gone here in Canada and I don’t miss them. Rounding and electronic payments happen at the till, so it’s not a big deal to do without.
