Albert Pujols

Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals tied a MLB record today by hitting 4 HR's in 4 consecutive-at-bats. The first 3 were hit in 3 consecutive at-bats yesterday and the 4th was hit on his first at-bat today. Pujols is quickly becoming one of the leagues best hitters. He is also the first player in MLB history to start his career with 5 30+ HR seasons. Not even the great Hank Aaron was able to do this. He won NL MVP honors last year, and went to the World Series the year before. Here are some of his other accomplishments

200+ career HR's in only his 6th MLB season (26 years old)

The only thing left on his resume is actually winning a World Series pennant. Is he the best player in MLB today?

He is definitely one of the best in league today. If he keeps this up, he will be one of the best ever in MLB. But that remains to be seen. What seems to get me is that he isn't necessarily looked at that way because he is not always at the top of every thing. But who would you rather have, someone who is the best home run hitter, or someone who is number 2 or three in several different categories?

I think this year will prove that he can be tops in all categories. In fact, I would not be surprised to see him win the triple crown. He can hit 30 or more HR's, is a shoe-in for 120 RBI's and has such an eye for the ball, that he barely strikes out. If it weren't for Andruw Jones monster year last year, Pujols would have had the triple crown.

Albert Pujols, who won three MVP awards and two World Series championships while crafting a St. Louis Cardinals legacy to rival Stan Musial, left the reigning champions of baseball on Thursday morning and signed a 10-year, $250 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels, according to a person involved in the negotiations. The person requested anonymity because Pujols must pass a physical for the deal to be final. It will be the third-largest contract in baseball history to Alex Rodriguez's two 10-year contracts, the first for $252 million with the Texas Rangers in 2000 and the second for $275 million with the New York Yankees in 2007.
