Out of Character: I will need details on the trap you want to set up. What food or bait, traps, terrain do you want to use? What time of day and what you would be doing beforehand? Will you be using the party's bear traps? Will you dig a 10 foot cube pit trap that would take an hour if everybody assisted (And needs a craft check)?
Diarmadhim, don't worry. Nothing explicit is happening, but I realise everyone can only see half the picture. There is some info Theaton may want to keep to himself or explain differently to the party. You bring up a good question though.
I wrote a question for everybody to answer in the Questions topic, when you get the time.
Theaton will plan on laying a trap with some fresh kills during the day of exploration like rabbits or squirrels if any are close by. Setting them in a area where we can range the wolves when they come to get the kills. Have the meat tied down so it takes them a bit to get if loose and run off will assist us by giving us some time to shoot them. That is my plan but we need to get these wolves off our backs it is just a matter of time before they come in to attack us.
Zork, not really a man of many action unless it benefits him and his cohorts, takes a more laid back roll in watching adventuring life while still keeping watch of all around him.
Mykael will take his direction from Theaton regarding setting up traps for the wolves and assist Theaton in any way he can. "Maybe I could act as bait" he tells Theaton "I can move out away from the party but stay within range of your bow. Then if the wolves come for me I can engage in melee and you guys can engage from afar while Archival does his summoning thing. Do you think this could work?"
When Theaton mentions giving Mykael superficial wounds, Mykael gives Theaton a look that suggests that's not really going to work for me but what he says is "Or, we could scatter the blood of an animal that you are able to hunt down near me and maybe this will draw them in. I can try to feign injury but I'm not much of an actor. Maybe just seeing one of us separated from the party and apparently vulnerable would be enough unless they are more intelligent than normal. It really hinges on whether we can convince them that I am in fact alone and vulnerable."
"It was just a suggestion but yes we can use to blood of a fresh kill too. They are semi intelligent but just how much depends. They hunt in packs and will go for a kill if one is separated from the herd so to speak. If we plan this well we can have it happen in the afternoon in a place that it looks like we moved on as you fell behind. And having cover for us to shoot from would be grand."
Out of Character: Theaton will be looking for a place where we can pull this off as we explore for the day. IF a place presents itself we will set this trap in motion. Theaton will also watch for small game animals they can use to make Mykael into a convincing victim.
You head west and explore the forest filled with much game to hunt. Theaton shoots two large hares, making sure not to drain the blood.
You come across a 30' hill with few trees but dotted with some light vegetation and move dense bushes at the base that would hamper the wolves' potential to escape. There are even two hollow logs fallen near the crown of the hill, which is 200' away from the base.
Is this the location you wanted? How do you act this out? I'll take Stealth and Perception from everyone and I think a Bluff from Mykael is appropriate.
