"Yes Jhod climb the rope and then you can hold the rope with Shivas as I climb out. Looks like we have another trap to get past too. This is going to be interesting if we have to keep inching along like this.
Out of Character: The goal is to get everyone out of the traps and standing along the edge of the wall and traps. Then start the process of Theaton by passing the trap as before with the rope and use the same order to cross it. Once across Theaton will check to see if there is another trap beyond this one.
Rolls unmodified: 11, 8, 5, 14, 19
As Jhod reaches the top, Shivas helps him up, then they carefully move over to the narrow corridor on the right (West). Using the rope, Theaton makes short work of climbing up, and then edges along the wall to the others.
With everyone together, the torch lights the new path, only 4 or 3 feet wide at parts. The light glints off the ceiling off what looks like a small vein of silver. The cavern is rough and a bend blocks vision after 30 feet where some large rocks litter the ground, making difficult terrain.
Theaton leads over the rocky section where the tunnel bends left. Travel is difficult this section, and two alcoves flank the tunnel. You pass one shadowy alcove, which ends within 5 feet and on the other side it appears to have formed when something caused the cave to crack. That would explain the rubble.
Squinting in the light, Theaton makes out the outline of another kobold, and enters a fighting stance. (You rolled Perception 13+4, Initiative 5+1)
He expects the creature in front to charge with its spear, which barely clangs off his shield. However, he is very surprised when he feels the ineffective stab of another one behind him! (1 non-lethal damage)
Theaton will attack the kobold in front of him hoping the others behind him can take care of the one behind him.
Combat rolls D20: 11, 8, 6, 17, 14, 13
Damage: 3, 3, 6, 5, 7, 4
If he kills the one in front of him he will turn to make sure the one behind is killed too.
Theaton misses, as do the kobolds on their counter attack. The clerics draw their weapon and Theaton hears the gurgle of the kobold behind him as it take a hatchet to one shoulder and a scimitar to the other, killing it instantly.
The momentary distraction is enough for the lone kobold to stab Theaton as it shouts an alarm in the Draconic tongue. Its arms are weak and barely hurt through the armour (1 non-lethal damage). Theaton misses as he twists back around.
The kobold sees his companion fall and enters a fury, poising and jumping straight for Theaton's neck. Its precise hit scrapes Theaton's shoulder (5 damage). Theaton strikes in revenge, staggering the kobold. It takes one final, desperate stab, missing wildly and collapsing from blood loss.
Theaton will ask one of the clerics to heal him if they are able and then search the bodies and the places they were hiding for any possible treasure. Knowing that their are kobolds in here and that they are now alerted to our presence we will have to be extra careful and ready for an attack if one comes.
We will continue onwards deeper into the caves after the searches.
OC unmodified rolls: 13, 4, 18, 15, 11, 15
Jhod casts a Cure Light Wounds: 3+4 = 7 healed.
The search reveals only loose rubble under which there nothing but solid rock.
The cave curves to the left before opening up to a fork. One path follows the curvature of the path you were on, and to the left is a path that is dimly lit by a candle in a rough niche. An acrid smell emanates from that direction, a bad smell, but better that the usual filth. Also, a wooden gate blocks an alcove to the left on this pathway.
Out of Character: There is only left, no right The map should clear the directions up a bit.
