Zork usually has his bow in his hand with an arrow notched - that is standard procedure but at this distance he would not be aiming anything unless he saw Grizzly in trouble from checking. With all this load moving silently isn't an option. He figures they would be a target anyway and be ready for it.
Traversing the half mile to the top of the hillock, you can tell that the figure is also wandering northwards, but at a slower pace than you. When you stand where it stood before you see it has continued downhill, now a thousand feet away.
Theaton sees the tracks in the rain-softened dirt. A distinct pattern of scales and three forward facing toes ending in claws with a vestigial claw facing back: kobold tracks. Theaton has an inkling about who this could be.
Indeed as you continue to approach, the figure notices you and stops. As you get close it raises an empty hand, the other leaning on its spear. It is a black-scaled reptilian creature, 3 feet tall, and wearing clothing made of grasses in a vain attempt at camouflage.
When he recognises one of you he shouts in glee, "Theaton!" His voice is high pitched like a yipping dog, "It's me Mikmek!"
Mykael dismounts as they near the figure and draws his sword, but maintains a semi-relaxed position trying not to provoke the creature but trying to be prepared just in case. When Mikmet greets Theaton, Mykael relaxes little bit more but still looks on with a little confusion, he studies Mikmet carefully attempting to discern whether he exudes an aura of evil (Detect evil).
Zork calls back Grizzly to his side. Zork looks on with no comments to offer at the moment. He looks on as the two get reacquainted.
"First, it's said Mik-mek." He sounds out the syllables of his name. "Probably hard for you who are not blessed with dragon-tongue."
"Second, I actually have good news!" Mikmek exclaims. "We have big egg clutch this season. 33 in total, more than there is kobolds! We went and killed the remaining mites in their tree burrow so at least we have space for them to live.
"But, as the humans sometimes say, the dragon has two heads. This means more mouths to feed than ever before. They won't go hungry if they end up eating their brothers and sisters, but it's better if we bring extra food into the tribe. It's very hard to keep fish for a long time so we decided to get human foods! We have shiny rocks for trade!"
Mikmek holds up a fist-sized ore that glitters in the sunlight.
Mykael senses no source of evil strong enough to detect, nor any evil intent.

Seeing Theaton’s interaction, and not detecting any evil from the kobold, Mykael returns his sword to its scabbard. Hearing Mik Mek talking about the birth of so many kobolds Mykael tugs on his armor and shifts uncomfortably.
That’s what we need he thinks to himself at that rate the region will be overrun with kobolds before the year is out… Iomedae help us, kobolds everywhere!
