"Stabilize them and tie them up. We do not want them coming up behind us to attack us. I am not sure if the Mites and Kobolds will ever work together unless a stronger leader can unite them."

Theaton will head over to the next hole and head down. Theaton will keep a eye out for vermin too. He is interested in what the shouts of pain are coming from.

Shivas stays behind for a short while, as Theaton leads Jhod down. Among the shouts, you begin to hear high-pitched giggling. You drop down the last few feet onto a muddy surface and see 6 of the blue creatures standing in front of 4 black kobolds tied to the dirt wall with roots and vines. Three of the kobolds are not moving, and the mites are gathered around one that appears alive and in pain, and they poke it with sharpened sticks.

Among the mites, is one that is conspicuously taller by about three inches and has an extremely wide mouth. You immediately recognise that it is a goblin with grey-blue skin that has painted itself to blend in better with the mites. It turns to face you, and shouts a warning in the Undercommon language, unusual for a goblin.

Roll initiative again!

The mites react quickly, dropping their useless sticks and drawing daggers. Three of them awkwardly waddle over to block Theaton while the two remaining hideously bulge their eyes as they cast Doom. It's for naught, as Theaton shakes off the effect.
He strikes the mite in front of him to clear a path, but the blade has difficulty penetrating the skin and the mite is only winded.
The goblin who has been shouting orders, pulls out a shortbow and hits Theaton in the shoulder, (2 damage Theaton, 2 to Jhod).
Jhod finally drops in saying, "Ouch, I felt that. Try not to get hit again." He touches Theaton with a Guidance spell.

The mites counter by packing more tightly around the two heroes, and the other two join in with their daggers. However, they are hopelessly weak and miss as they squint away the torchlight. The mite that was hurt, falls down from exhaustion, leaving an open pathway to the goblin, if Theaton decides to take the risk of opening himself to four mite attacks.

The goblin's eyes widen as it sees it's inevitable fate, Theaton charging towards it. However, one mite gets in a lucky reaction hit, but you feel nothing. (Jhod 1 non-lethal damage).
You tower over the goblin as your sword comes down. It narrowly dodges to the side as it drops its bow. Pulling out a dogslicer, a crude sword with holes drilled in to reduce it's weight, it lunges forward straight at your heart. The look of sheer terror crosses it's face as the weapon crumbles against the chain shirt protecting your chest.

Meanwhile Jhod pulls out his handaxe and swings over their heads. The mites fight with him and almost appear to overwhelm him. (4 damage Jhod) He stands his ground and the fight continues.

Theaton misses the goblin a second and third time, as it slips out of his range and runs down a slope towards a deep chasm in the dirt that stretches either side into darkness. Another room is barely visible in the torchlight, beyond the 20 foot gap. The goblin jumps and grabs onto handles that are created from roots in the ceiling, and begins making its way across.

What does Theaton do?

I will need another set of rolls. I used the first two for Will saves, then 4 attacks.

Jhod misses, and receives two slices from the small fey (Jhod 1 damage, 1 non-lethal). Theaton moves in to flank and slices one of the pitiful creatures which staggers it, while Jhod frowns as his axe doesn't sink deep enough to down another of them.

At this point Shivas jumps down from the burrow, her scimitar blazing with light and hitting the mite Jhod damaged in the head. "Oh, my, sorry," She says apologetically as it falls.

The mites, leaderless and evenly matched, lose confidence and their attacks become less energetic, more predictable. None of them have a hope of hurting the heroes among them. Theaton misses, Jhod doesn't penetrate the skin, but Shivas cleanly slices one to unconsciousness, clearly trying not to spill too much blood.

A few seconds pass with neither side gaining an advantage, with slight hits and the mites' skin resisting blows (Jhod 1 damage). Then Theaton flourishes when he sees an opening, performing a spectacular stab straight through the mite's heart and out the other side!

The last mite cries as it misses, opening to an attack from Shivas which knocks it down into the dirt. She immediately begins to cast spell to stabilize all the mites, except the one that is obviously already dead. She ties them as Jhod says, "I need to heal us, especially myself. Do you want me to heal that kobold as well?" He points to the bloodied kobold tied to the wall besides its three dead clan mates.
