Theaton will grab the statue and place it in his back pack. He will look at the mites and tell the kobold to himself so that he can protect himself and help as we head back to the kobolds area with the statue. Theaton will ask the kobold to make sure that this is the statue that was stolen.

As you cross the gorge to the other room, you see the room clearly. The statue sits on top of a table that is covered with rocks dirt and grass, and underneath lie a few sacks of things. In the far corner of the room, 40 feet away, a mite sits atop a grotesque creature with many eyes and six hairy legs. You recognise it is a giant tick; what is normally the tiniest visible creature has been grown and bred to a vermin the size of a large dog.

To the left of the table, only 10 feet away, lie the injured mite, the unconscious goblin bomber and the disarmed goblin from before. Except he holds a spear in one hand and has the other in the bomber's bag.

The statue is in plain sight, but Jhod has already begun climbing over the gorge. You aren't sure who will react the fastest. Roll initiative again!

Initiative list:
Goblin: 19
Injured Mite: 18
Jhod: 14
Grabbles + Tickleback: 12
Theaton: 11
Shivas: 10
Bomber: 4

Everyone in the room was expecting the adventurers to storm in at any second. When Theaton enters, many things happen simultaneously. The goblin pulls out a vial and shouts in success. The injured mite charges at you with a dagger, dropping his dagger as his wound gives out, and collapsing to the ground crying. And finally, the mite mounted on the tick shouts an order, pointing forward, to no response from his pet. Annoyed, he shouts again, kicking the tick. It reluctantly stands and skitters halfway across the room, now only 20 feet away.

In response, you step over the mite body towards the goblin, swinging over its head as it ducks. Jhod lands on the earth behind you.

The goblin begins pouring the potion down the bomber's throat! You try to hit the vial, but it's too small and you miss! The tick charges at you, the mite barely keeping his seat; unable to do anything but hang on. It bites you (4 damage Theaton, 3 Jhod) and tries to keep hold (Combat maneuver: 26 vs your 14 CMD) by holding you with it's forelegs and mouth. Then it starts sucking blood (1 damage to Strength AND Constitution)! Luckily you resist further nastiness that you feel seeping into your blood.

The goblin bomber begins to fade back to consciousness as you find yourself within weapon reach of him, but grappled in the mouth of this tick. Jhod asks if you need healing or to take the very hard shot against the goblin. What decisions do you make?

Out of Character: In Pathfinder, breaking the grapple is a Standard action, but note that you can instead do actions that require only 1 hand. I do recommend glancing at the grapple rules. They aren't simple, but definitely simpler than Dungeons & Dragons 3.5.

Theaton takes advantage of the goblin's prone position and hits it in the leg. It shouts in pain and then fades back unconscious. Jhod runs up with a cure light wounds, as a powerful soothing feeling runs through Theaton (Healing 12 HP). Shivas finishes her climb across the chasm and lands behind Jhod.

The other goblin desperately resumes searching his fallen comrade's backpack, pulling out another vial! The tick holds onto Theaton (15+5 vs 17 CMD), digging in deeper and draining more blood (4 damage Theaton & 1 Strength and Constitution damage, 4 damage Jhod).

Theaton retaliates with a vengeance (I rolled you a 13+2 to confirm, just barely made it) crashing his sword into its chitin, cracking it in places. The tick is mightily angered, and even more when Jhod's arrow pierces it (8 damage Tick). Shivas fires her arrow badly and just barely missed Jhod.

The goblin uncorks the potion, and Theaton yet again misses the container. The solution inside immediately begins bubbling violently and erupts in a gout of fire, wreathing the goblin in burning liquid (1 damage goblin). It shouts and begins running around like a maniac. Meanwhile the giant Tick angrily sucks out more blood (6 damage Theaton & 1 Strength and Constitution damage, 5 damage Jhod).

This time Jhod's arrow doesn't pierce, as Shivas instead takes aim at the mite hanging off its side, failing to ride it. Does Theaton attempt to break out or continue attacking the tough beast?

Out of Character: Oh my, I just remembered you took rapid shot as the archery feat. Those previous fights could have been a lot faster and less damaging. Sorry!

Shivas misses and you don't manage to break free (11 vs tick's 17 CMD). Yet it manages to holds on (15 vs 13 CMD) even longer and continues to drain your strength (5 damage Theaton & 1 Strength and Constitution, Jhod 4 damage). The goblin on fire does a terrible job of putting it out, but the fuel gets spent (2 damage).

Your sword doesn't pierce, but your allies have put up with enough. Both take careful aim with their bows and their arrows fly either side of Theaton into the monster's head through its many eyes (2 criticals for 24 damage! So lucky, a one in 400 chance!). The tick falls and releases you and the mite tumbles off and stands up, thankful for being back on the ground.

The goblin is angry, it runs under the table and retrieves a small spear from one of the sacks. The mite attacks Theaton, but misses. The whole party misses the mite, it is a superior specimen and better fighter.

The goblin emerges from the table and pierces Theaton in the leg (1 damage), while the mite gets a good stab through the armour (4 damage Theaton, 4 Jhod). The whole party miss again, but you hear a high pitched screech as Mikmek joins the fray welding a mite dagger. He hits the goblin (1 damage) shouting "That's our spear!"
