"Of course, I was just not sure if you meant we were splitting up and you wanted me to map the area without you. I am ready, please let's proceed."
Svetlana hands over the potions and informs you that you spent 1750 of the trade credit and have 475 left. You also have 1941.9 gold in a 'party bank' and 583 in Theaton's bank.
Kesten says, "If the kobolds are not a danger I will send word. If the army notice a decrease in their activity, they will send the reward. Concerning the mites... We have no reports of their activity, they don't seem to be a threat."
Jhod adds, "They would normally keep to themselves. However, the poor tree is suffering because of their presence. It's up to you really. Sometimes old trees must also die."
Out of Character: When you head off do you want to go at mid-morning on the 1st or early dawn on the 2nd?
Also, Zork doesn't have a horse, so your rate of travel will be 30 feet per round, or 3 miles per hour. Actually, I just noticed that Jhod doesn't have one either. He could afford one, but probably doesn't want to buy one.
Zork thinks about a horse and how he could either try to get one from a bandit or buy one when he has enough gold. In the mean time he awaits the decision of the others not minding to walk.
Out of Character: Theaton was going to wait till the morning to leave just making sure all is prepared the day and night before.
In Character: Yes Theaton will still ride and the others can walk as Theaton watches the surroundings and what is ahead before things sneak up on us. Theaton will be getting down and checking any tracks that they come across to see what made the tracks and how many there are so we know what has passed recently in the area.
Toilday 2 Gozran
Theaton leads Zork and Jhod out of the fort. Their previous set of tracks is faint after the few days of rest and anyway, the party don't follow them as they go directly East into unexplored territory. The plains do not appear to be frequented by many animals you pass by Bokken's hut lying a mile to the south and curse your luck as a light rain begins to fall and a strong wind blows it into your eyes, against your direction of travel.
To make matters worse, Theaton spots an obvious set of tracks. The footprints were a worrying two or two and a half feet long and were certainly fresh. Worst of all, they were heading from the southeast to the northwest, just missing Bokken's hut by 2 miles.
Theaton says, "I am not too worried about the hut as they are not heading in that direction. But a giant in these parts could be interesting. I think we need to follow these tracks to see if it means any harm to these parts or just passing through."
Theaton turns to follow the tracks.
Following the tracks is easy for the first hour, however, the rain hampers vision and begins to wash them away. Zork assists Theaton (Rolled you Survival (D20+8+2) = 21 then 26) and two hours later you see the movement of some large green shapes through the rain.
You stand just 440 feet away on top of a 50 foot high hillock. I has a steep slope of about 50 degrees facing the shapes, where you climbed only a 30 degree slope to get on top. Mud pours down the slope on both sides and distant lightning crackles occasionally.
A knowledge (Local) or (Nature) check can identify the shapes and tracks. If you're untrained, your maximum result is 10. What do you do?
