Zork enquirers of Oleg about trolls to know of their battle weaknesses. He also informs the commander about troll activity. He then seeks to get some rest noting to Theaton that they might have to miss adventuring out tomorrow unless they want to be soaked.
Zork concurs and waits to see what the weather will be like tomorrow. He spends the evening resting and sharpening his weapons while humming tunes he was fond of from his youth.
Oleg tells Zork that it is local knowledge to use fire or acid against trolls. It's the only way to kill them properly. He offers bottles of Alchemist's Fire at 20 gp each. (Note there is 1 bottle in the party inventory.)
Kesten is surprised that so many were spotted this far north. He begins making preparations against such an attack, including ordering some alchemist's fire of his own. Oleg frowns, slightly worried about too many fire hazards within the fort.
Starday 6 Gozran
An early morning sprinkle and the distance crack of thunder confirm that the day will be indeed wet, and will probably be the next day as well.
Theaton will buy four Alchemists fires just in case and readies to leave even in the rain. Knowing that they can do some exploring towards the west even in the rain. Plus they may be able to sneak up on any bandits that are waiting out the storms.
Oleg takes 80 gold off the party's credit and four alchemist's fire are added to the party inventory.
Travel is slow, yet you still explore a decent area to the west of Oleg's. The rain continues through the night making rest uncomfortable, but with no ill effects.
Sunday 7 Gozran
Exploration continues in a region where the grasslands meet a forest to the south. The occasional tree is a respite from the weather however the lightning is a risk when resting underneath them. You see a tree 1000 feet away ignite when struck and the thunderous noise shakes you.
You luck out against being struck and the weather clears in the late afternoon. The night is pleasantly warm so a campfire is unnecessary.
Moonday 8 Gozran
The morning mist reduces visibility when you enter the forest, but it soon lifts allowing you a good day of surveying. Crickets chirp and birds stretch their wings in the warmth of the day.
Toilday 9 Gozran
This morning the whole party wake to find all their bags turned inside out and all the contents placed back inside, nothing you notice is missing. Jhod had been on third watch and noticed nothing.
I need 2 sets of Perception checks.
Zork is not happy about his things being messed with and he relates a similar experience to the others after finding the mysterious things from the bandits. He asks one of the magic people in the party if they can decipher if its one of his things causing it.
Perception: 18,1
Jhod is the only one with magical talent and he cats his divination, saying, "That's not it, Zork. Apart from your potions, nothing of yours has a magical aura."
He ponders for a while and continues, "This looks to be more of a prank than a curse. In an ancient forest like this there would be some benevolent fey. They would be the kind to do this. Since they aren't unseelie fey, they would accept gifts we leave behind, as some kind of bribe to leave us alone."
Theaton (Knowledge nature: 18) reckons ideal gifts would be sweets, jewelry, alcohol and potions, but they will not refuse anything. That is unless it is made of Cold Iron, their anathemic substance.
