Theaton spots a small, blue, lizard-like face in the trees behind the party just sitting in the branches 30 feet up and watching. When it notices you make eye contact, it clicks its fingers and just vanishes. This confirms Theaton's inkling that this nest is for the fey, not birds.
With the couple of hours left, you do hunt down a rabbit which is not as large as two piglets, but you have more than half your rations left to supplement the meal.
Out of Character: I will need a few Perception checks for the next day.
Zork rubs his cold iron sickle and makes a comment. "You know we must look for adventure in the plains, mountains or sea and avoid the forests for awhile." He laughs about it without being too distracted.
Archival and Caelum stand, peering at the mailbox that has suddenly opened. After a moment, Archival summons a celestial eagle and instructs it in Celestial to place the rose-red rhodochrosite gem he had promised earlier in the mailbox. In Sylvan he states, "The gift of friendship I had promised last night. The offer to assist you if you need it stands."
When the group is ready to continue travelling, Caelum and Archival mount Midnight.
Out of Character: Sorry, I had a buddy from the Navy pass away so I wasn't home for a few days.
Fireday 5 Desnus
You awake to the great experience of no pranks being played this morning as the fog lifts and the journey begins.
You make your way to the area near the bear traps and the bandits begin to point you towards their stash. They trail closely behind, as wary of the traps as everyone else.
Soon you come across three unmarked bear traps that Caelum and Theaton point out on your path, two Zork sees to the left side and another one Theaton spots to the right. If your mapping skills are any good, you are about a mile from the first trap Archival set off where the skirmish occurred and the bandits say it's not too long now.
Zork can't believe that no fey came the previous night, he wonders if that in itself is a trick. Now focused on the treasure he looks at the bandits, "You know where all the traps are to disband them, right? Well, you will do so now with your hands still tied, make a funny move and you will be hacked, am I clear?"
Halting Midnight, Caelum dismounts and moves to trigger each trap they see with a branch.
“Zork,” Archival interjects, “I do not believe they placed the traps. My shout of pain is what alerted them to our presence before. Their leader had stated that while the traps were not theirs, they would
'take advantage of them,' just before they opened fire. It is safer, and less acrimonious, to allow Caelum to trigger the traps. If they are wounded, it would be like having to care for me all over again, a bother,” Archival states, grinning.
Upon completion of his task, Caelum remounts Midnight with Archival.
