How important are Church meetings for you? In training meeting some time ago, our leaders spoke about the importance of spending time with our families but how realistic is that if more meetings and activities are added? Sometimes we have meetings to plan meetings.
I think sometimes we have meetings just because we think we are supposed to. One of my problems with our meetings is that they are too long. Usually we have to start late because, heaven forbid, we should start before everyone is here. And a meeting just wouldn't be worth the effort of attending if it wasn't at least an hour long. We, as a people, need to start meetings on time but attendees really need to get there on-time, too. Keep the meetings short and visit afterwords.
That's my rant!
I think that sometimes we do have too many meetings. I remember when we first went to the block schedule, one of the reasons given was so that we could spend more time with out families. But what happened? Wards and stakes started scheduling more meetings in the time that we were supposed to be spending with our families. I don't think that's what the Brethren originally had in mind.
