Sylvia Mathews Burwell
The Senate voted Thursday to confirm President Obama's nomination of former budget director Sylvia Mathews Burwell to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Burwell will take over from Kathleen Sebelius in heading the agency that is implementing the Affordable Care Act, Obama's signature health care law. Sebelius resigned in April, shortly after the administration announced more than 8 million people had signed up for insurance during the law's first open enrollment period, despite a disastrous rollout of the health care website last year.
