I think Catholics believe you go to limbo or hell if you kill yourself. Catholics have a history of torture and painful punishment so it doesn't surprise me that they would want someone to suffer til the very death.

Shortly after Brittany Maynard took her own life, a leading Catholic Church official said assisted suicide was "reprehensible" because it violated the dignity of human life.
