Johnathan's Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 - The Artifacts Of Power - Page 26

Feyra unsheathes her dagger as soon as she hits the invisible wall as she look shocked at Basmet for a second. After a second though, see takes a moment to think as she takes out one of the blue vials that she handed to her. Even thought she can't really understand what's that, she drinks it as Basmet did and then tries to pass that invisible wall that blocks her.

Regardless the result, she says whispering.
"This seems so strange... I feel like we're leaving our world."

Looking at the stone coffin, she says.
"This is it, this has to be it. This has to be where the Great Pharaoh Khufu is buried."

Happily, she takes a single step forward as she then stops.

"But wait... Where is that old man? Didn't he head towards here? Is this an illusion... Or there is something else in there?"

She then procceeds slowly towards the coffin holding tightly her dagger. As she prays to the gods that she's not late.

Drinking the vial did the trick for Feyra, who now steps in and approaches the coffin.

Everything is calm, and nothing happens in the environment.

"Most curious," Says Basmet as she looks around. "I only drank it since I expected a fight. Let's go and open this stone. Together." She puts her hands on one side of the stone lid.

Out of Character: I take it that Charles is providing the light from a torch?

Charles drinks a dose of the bless potions he carries, than enters the room as well, holding a torch as well. He offers to help Basmet and the heroes push the stone slab covering the coffin.

Inside, the heroes find nothing at all. Most unusual also is the fact that there are no ornaments of any sort, or any kind of offerings.

Before they are allowed to think about the situation, they hear the echoing voice of the oracle's ghost asking them:

"Are you responsible for this? Why is it not here? Why is it empty!?.. The scriptures were clear! What is the meaning of this?!"

"No! It's your fault!" Basmet looks around as she accuses him. "Do you really think such an impure monstrosity can walk around in a temple to Ra? That the gods have no way to defend against a mortal?" She covers her mouth as she realises she doesn't actually have a way to defend herself against a ghost.

Charles whispers to his companions,

"Remember, we are up against a ghost, we must be careful, who knows what kind of powers this man possessed".

He silently tries to follow the sound of the oracle while taking out his weapon just in case if there is danger.

Feyra aproaches as she kneels in front of the coffin.

"Indeed, they shouldn't be wrong"

She says as she puts her hand in the coffin checking it.

The coffin is completely empty. Even a short examination can confirm nothing fishy is going on, such as a trap hole at the bottom. The smell of a mummified corpse can be easily felt being emitted from the vacant stone coffin.

A few moments later, the furious and confused spirit of the slain oracle enters the room through the wall. It is easy to see that the holy site is causing strain to it, but nothing prevents it from directly attacking the heroes!

(Short reminder, because it's close to a month of out-of-game time; you have come here in search of the headwear of the pharaoh, which is said to be an artifact of power. Sorry if you remember anyway.)

Please roll (Trained only) Knowledge (Religion) checks, and please remember the bless spell active on you. Don't roll for initiative, instead the post order will be accounted as your turn order!

The ghost is headed towards Basmet.
